Impressions about plant

February 3, 2023 Day 71
This week will focus on watering and slowly clearing out more leaves. I have a feeling that the massive amount of foliage is choking bud development in the middle canopy on both plants. WWA-2 isn't as bad, but could definitely due with more defoliation. I'm also going to do a final mass defoliation in a couple of weeks. Not too sure if I should be doing that or not. I also added some Diatomaceous Earth to all pots. I have a small fly thingy infestation. Hopefully that does the trick and I don't have to deal with them. So given the last few grows, I've found that 85 to 90 days is a good number for these plants. So I'm going to shoot for 90 days. Just under 3 weeks. That should be good. Expect some dense and stinky buds.

Today the ladies are just hanging out. Both have been watered and are not getting any clipping done. WWA-2 started noticably swelling her buds. The pistils are still tiny. Especially compared to WWA-1. She has massive pistils. WWA-2 was also a late bloomer. So I take about a week off what WWA-1 looks like.

Update: After careful observation, I found that the branches were just too tight together on both plants. So I decided to tie the branches outward to open up the entire plant. Just a slight pull on the lowest 3 nodes. It really opened up light space on both plants significantly. This should certainly help with yield. And density. I also feel like I won't have to snip anymore leaves.

I noticed some canoeing the other day on WWA-1. The only thing I can think of is the addition of more nutrients. Luckily she is just out of that reservoir, so I can give plain water tomorrow. WWA-2 on the other hand is showing no issues whatsoever with the same dose. These 2 are so different. I'll be doing the same thing with her as well. Just plain water for the next feeding. I'm pretty sure it will fix itself with that. I only bottom feed. So it only gets so far before the ladies take up all the nutrients.

Not much today. Both ladies are happy and healthy. I'm not seeing anymore canoeing on WWA-1. Just what was there before. Still no sign of issues with WWA-2.

Today was focused on light height and the other 2 plants I have running. Our white widows are both in mid to late flower and needed to be higher up than the seedlings I have. However, I have been using their wick feeding systems to keep these ladies lift up. Well, today I needed those reservoirs for the other 2. Adjustments were made and hopefully it works out nicely. I'll have to see in a few hours if there is anything different.
Today was reservoir cleaning day. All fresh and new. WWA-1 with just 3 ml/gal FishSh!t and water.
WWA-2 took really well to the nutes, so I'm keeping the same 7.5 ml/gal along with the 3 ml FishSh!t.

I had to make some pretty major adjustments today. The PPFD app I have needed to be calibrated. So now it matches the par map from AC Infinity. I raised the light and lifted the ladies up to match about 17" of light distance. It reads around 1100 ppfd center light and around 800 to 900 ppfd outside. The 2 younger plants sharing the space now have plenty of space to reach. And have a reasonable ppfd for everyone.

Today our ladies are enjoying their lives. After using a couple boxes to lift them up, and some major lighting adjustments, I landed on around 16" above the canopy with a PAR reading of 1200 ppfd. I also think that lifting everything up and raising the light up higher really helped with light penetration. It seems like the case. Maybe it is and I will see better results.

QUESTION: Does canopy depth mean anything? For example, WWA-2 has an 8 inch deep canopy. Does that mean anything? I feel like it should. Any thoughts on this?
