Before defoliation: The mistake I made is not removing suckers and allowing them to grow. I know now how important it is to prune the suckers to allow the main branches to thicken up.
Before Defoliation: No light underneath.
After defoliation: Let there be light! I'm hoping this helps!
After defoliation: Top view! Very aggressive! I'll have to wait a few days before they recover. Any advice welcome!
The branches stretched at 17-23 inches. I'm second guessing myself. I'm thinking I could of left them a few more days to stretch more, but I was at day 21.
Impressions about plant
So far, so good..on 12/05/22 I flipped my plants to 12/12, and started defoliating all the undergrowth. NOTE TO SELF: Never SCROG until after the 3rd week of flowering. It was a nightmare trying to reach all the way in the back to remove foliage.
Also, Be sure to prune the smaller thinner sucker branches during the first defoliation, or the plant will spend more energy trying to thicken up the smaller branches, instead of focusing on stretching?
On 12/26/22 I decided to pull the trigger and start pruning / defoliating . I probably should of waited maybe a few more days to see if they stretched more. Please let me know if I should of waited. The branches are anywhere from 17 to 23' inches. Any advice I would appreciate!
