I always germinate with the paper towel method. I have never failed, using this technique. I roll the seed in the towel and put it in a prescription bottle. As you can see in the second picture (if you zoom in), the seed has just popped. It took about 48 hours. Picture 3 shows the seed planted and I put plastic over the soil to to ensure it doesn't dry out. my 150 watt light is running at 100%, to warm the soil. My grow room is a 1930's phone booth approximately 2ftx2ft 60 cm by 60 cm. daytime 25 c night time 18 c.
soil mix is organic (40% organic potting mix, 25% worm castings, 25% Peat moss, and 10% sand. Ph corrected with powdered lime. I added 6 red worms to keep things interesting. I watered with tap water that had stood a week to outgas the chlorine until a small quantity came out the bottom. The seed is placed in a paper pot that has nonnutritive potting soil and I bury it up to the rim in the good stuff. I don't want to burn the baby.
