Impressions about plant
Week 6 - Flower
Right at the turn into week 6, it was clear flower had begun. Pistils were exploding out of the main stem and pushing through all the bud sights. The plant looked amazing.
But - two days into the week, I went to adjust some of the LST ties and actually SNAPPED THE MAIN BRANCH about 2/3rds of the way up the plant. This made me very concerned being we had just entered flower and I didn't know if it would have enough time to recover.
So the result was the branch was snapped about 60% of the way through, but it was a very shallow cut and the top could actually still sit on top of the base freely without toppling over. I promptly taped it up with some scotch tape, reinforced double at the base of the break site, hoping for the best.
A couple days later the nodes, bud sites, and top above the break showed no signs of decay. It was actually stable at the base of the break and looked like it was up taking water like nothing ever happened.
Luckily for me, the plant didn't skip a beat and the main pistil experienced significant growth and everything looks as healthy as it was before the mishap.
Some of the bottom leaves and nodes were withering away, which was perfect since I was going to perform some light defoliation end of week anyway. I also reapplied some LST to some branches, but not the stem.
There was a significant temperature drop this week, which is going to work perfect since I'm juicing the lights up going forward through flower. Raised the light up from 12 to 14 inches to cover more area since my canopy got bigger, and using 75% power to generate around 750um of light.
Fed it to start week 7, this time with 1/8tsp of Grow and 1/8tsp (half dose) of Flower each in a Liter of water. This is the last time it will get Grow feed; next week it will get a full dose of Flower.
Oh yeah and plant 2, its still there on the windowsill. Definitely struggling without the pungent light source. Grew another few inches and is in flower. Looks weak, but its just a control for my hands off vs ideal conditions experiment.
What a week !
