Impressions about plant
I have had a few questions about my grow, but my replies do not seem to be posted so I will answer here: My goal is to grow relatively short, but bushy plants that fill the tent corner to corner with a flat canopy of buds (a guys gotta be able to dream). I do this by topping early and often. I am trying to get the lower branches to catch up with the upper branches. I flattened the canopy about a week ago and again this week. Here I am supercropping the outer branches to get them to spread and “lower” and then topping the plants’ center down to the level of the outer branches.
For @smittyj I will put all of these into one scrog net at around day 21 of flower when they are done with their stretch. I trim very frequently throughout veg. I always take off any leaves that are pointing down toward the dirt and also try to take any large fan leaves that are blocking light to lower branches or that head back toward the center. For the last week or so I have also been updressing the plants…removing and small branches in the center or at the bottom that will not make it to the top. I do not want to waste plant energy on this lower growth that would only produce larf.
It has been 42 days since they sprouted. I consider today to be day 28 of the Veg) stage (stopped treating them like a seedling.) 700+ PPFD, the humidity has been at or around 60% because of the weather, the temp at 85, and am using the most aggressive veg feed schedule for Success Nutrients with the addition of some SuperThrive (and a feed, feed, feed, flush cadence.)
I did another heavy canopy flattening yesterday… the last before I flip them in the next 5 days of so. I want to feed them a transition feed to get the used to the flower nutrients and a flush before I flip them, and I will be doing a complete defoliation when I flip. Today they were about 15” after yesterday’s haircut and supercropping. They are cycling every other day.
